Josh Bowling is a 21-year veteran of law enforcement, with 18 of those years here with us at the Fresno Police Department.  In addition to his experience on uniformed tactical teams, Officer Bowling has an extensive background in undercover operations and tactics.  Officer Bowling was previously assigned to undercover/surveillance units responsible for apprehension of violent criminals and gang members.  Officer Bowling has been assigned to the Regional Training Center and holds over 20 POST Instructor certifications.  In addition to being our resident subject matter expert on Police Use of Force and related case law, he is the lead instructor for the advanced officer skills program (PSP) Arrest & Control and Force Options.  Officer Bowling also created one of our most popular POST approved classes; our 3-day Critical Incident Articulation course that focuses on the knowledge and articulation needed for officers after a use of force or an officer involved shooting.  In addition to these skills and experience, Officer Bowling is a 1st degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and owns his own academy.
