This is a 24 hour basic driver training course that includes defensive driving, emergency vehicle operation, pursuit driving, law, policies, and procedures. Students will complete practical exercises on a driving course.

Certifications: POST Plan I – POST reimbursable tuition, backfill approved.
Equipment: None required – Note: A large portion of this class will be outside. Depending on the time of year, students should be prepared for inclement weather (warm clothing), or high central valley temps (sunscreen, hat, etc.).
Attire: Attire is relaxed: jeans (in good condition), or suitable utility-type clothing is acceptable. Shirts may not contain offensive language, logos, or otherwise be unprofessional. No shorts or open toe footwear.

Courses provided at the Fresno Police Department Regional Training Center (FPDRTC) are not open to the general public for enrollment unless otherwise noted. Attendance is restricted to law enforcement personnel only. The FPDRTC reserves the right to restrict or deny enrollment in any class to any individual.Courses may be cancelled due to low enrollment, or unforeseen circumstances, such as special operations or law enforcement emergencies.
