With changing use of force laws and California government members’ expectations of law enforcement agencies, K-9 units have questions about the legal parameters of deployment and the potential criminal and civil implications that could follow. Attorney Eugene Ramirez, who is a partner with the law firm Manning, Kass, Ellrod, Ramirez and Trester, will provide an 8-hour Use of Force Update presentation for K-9 units. Also presenting will be a recently retired K9 Sergeant from a large police department that will discuss policies and procedures regarding deployment issues.
